Betsy Ross, seen above, was the seamstress who made the first American Flag. In May, 1776 she was contracted by the Commitee and finished the flag in a month.
The US Flag helps complete the ultimate representation of the United States of America, the White House, which is the official workplace and residence of the US President.
The American flag is flown continuously at Fort McHenry in Baltimore, Maryland. One of the accomplishments, the Fort is known for, is the successfull defence of Baltimore Harbor from the British Navy in 1812. At that time, Francis Scott Key wrote the famous poem "The Star-Spangled Banner", which would later become the national anthem of the United States.
